ne of my favorite real estate stories was a neighborhood despute in Newtown, CT about 15 years ago. Each of the homes had 20+ acres with interconnecting trails. It was my older brother's home and things were almost too quiet until one year a new neighbor started dirt biking throgh the trails. These dirt bikes were painfully loud. Especially when they were accellerating up the steep hill close to my bother's house.
All the neighbors complained but the town hall could do nothing because it was not a prohibited activity. There were attempts to plead with the dirt bike family but their response was an unsympathetic, "We love dirt biking and we are legally allowed to do it".
The next year a job changed moved my brother out of state. The buyer of his home immediately set up a shooting range in the back yard and starting shooting away with abandon. All the time it was just pop, pop, pop and bang, bang, bang of his rifles and pistols. The dirt bike family complained to the town, "This is crazy, he's out there shooting guns! We can't let our kids in the back yard with that going on!". However, the town could do nothing as shooting guns is permitted in Newton, CT in homes with a 20+ acre lot. As you can expect, the dirt bike family attempted to plead with their new gun-owner neighbor but his response was an unsympathetic, "I love shooting guns and I am legally allowed to do it"......one good mock deserves another :)
