it blocked out the sun!

There pic is a new home getting built across from my house. The beige home on the right sold for $3.2M in 2008. A contractor bought the tiny tear down "grandmother's" home next door and is building a monster house for an expected $4M list price.

The perception is that expensive monster homes add value to a neighborhood. However, I would strongly guess that the existing home on the right was worth more previously with it's privacy than with this new monster house peering down on it and blocking the sun.
